Okay, so I love music. I live in a house of musicians, although ALL of that ability and talent escaped me. I love when you're having a horrible day and the right song comes on and it changes everything. There is much power in music. I love songs, because they are pictures with words. Anyway, I have decided to finally do this because I saw it on some blogs a couple weeks ago. The goal is to list your 5 favorite albums and your favorite song on each album, then to explain a little bit about it, and hopefully to introduce some people to new artists or to buy an album they don't have yet. So here it goes (in no particular order though...too hard).
1. Coldplay: A Rush of Blood to the Head
Favorite song: Green Eyes
-So, seriously, who can go wrong with Coldplay? I LOVE this CD. Like, listen to it on repeat many times, love. There really isn't a song on the album I don't like. Why Green Eyes for the favorite? I mean, honestly, "I came here with a load, but it's so much lighter now I've met you...how could I go on without you?" Beautiful. I just love the words to that song.
2. Mae-The Everglow
Favorite Song: We're So Far Away
I really love Mae. I have seen them several times live, and although they have probably played the exact same playlist every single show, with a majority of the songs coming from this CD, I never grow tired of them. Why the favorite? Well, it sounds crazy and all, but it just reminds me of a relationship I had and kind of sums up a major memory in my life. So, thank you Mae, for writing that song.
3. Shane & Shane- Pages
Favorite: Over the Sun (although that's a tough choice)
Honestly. This CD is AMAZING!!! The lyrics to every song are so heartfelt and can be related to so many circumstances in life. Not to mention talent. The Shane's know what's up when it comes to music. Seriously. LOVE this album. Also, I purchased a DVD of this CD and in the DVD there is a little pamplet, which shows that all these songs came straight out of their journals. How amazing is that, because I've always wanted my journals turned into music. Love it. GO BUY THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T!!!!!! (or I'll make you a copy, as long as you somehow support The Shane's : )
4. Marc Broussard-S.O.S. Save Our Soul
Favorite Song: Let the Music Get Down in Your Soul
Really and truly, not any combination of words can express how incredible Marc Broussard is. So I won't try. Check him out. Support him. Tell him to come to Atlanta more. Whatever. This guy is incredible!!
5. Matt Wertz- 23 Places
Fav: Sweetness in Starlight
Who can go wrong with a little Matt Wertz? [And Dave Barnes!!] Anyway, love this guy. He has such a good time playing music, it's hard not to chill and unwind watching him live. I really probably like his newest stuff better, but it's a toss up. Wertz, you're the man, that's all there is to it.
