My church is partnering with The Caring Place a food bank and clothing center for the homeless in Cleveland, TN. We want to see the people of Cleveland radically changed by encountering the love of Jesus through the basic needs of food & clothing. God has opened so many doors to be involved with these people, but we cannot do this on our own. The Caring Place is essentially out of food. The needs are so great in the city that the food supply is awfully low. People bring food in at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but they need food NOW and even if not now they need A TON OF CANNED GOODS to last a good while past the Christmas season. We have several opportunites lined up with our Walmart and our local grocery stores, but we need to go beyond just that. This really isn't that HUGE of a sacrifice in the sense that canned good are 40,50,60 cents a piece and we all have cans that have been sitting at our homes for years that we think are gross and won't ever use. This isn't meant to make anyone feel bad, but honestly, If you feel led or would like to help out here are some practical ways:
1. PRAY. First and foremost, pray for my church, Brushfire Nation Cleveland. Pray for our mission and our ministry, we are college students, but our hearts are huge for these people and we just want to further God's Kingdom.
2. If you live in my hometown and want to give canned goods: Leave me a comment on here and let me know that you want to help. I will have you gather cans and either bring them to my home or I will come pick them up.
3. You live in my hometown and want to simply help----comment and I'll give you my Lee address and you can send money that I promise will be used 100% for The Caring Place. Even $5.00 has potential to go a long way, so maybe you can teach your kids about needs of other people and send a couple dollars.
4. If you live beyond these areas and just want to help, again, COMMENT and I will provide you the means in which to get the money sent to me to buy canned goods.
WHAT WE NEED: literally any canned goods....fruit, vegetables, etc. don't worry about name brand, just any cans will do. Soups are great since it's getting colder out. IF YOU CANNOT GIVE FOOD, ANY clothing items would do as well as towels and sheets. These can even be used and old and about-to-be-thrown-away.
Again, any money donated will be used 100% for meeting these needs.
There are so many needy people, let us be Jesus to them!!!!!!
