Well it's raining today and I'm having a hard time being motivated to do much. All my stuff from Lee is still all over the place and that's starting to get on my nerves. I'm beginning reading for a paper/report I have to present to the psychology department upon my return to Lee in August which has completely fascinated me. We could choose the topic but it had to be on an American tragedy or event--anything from the events of Waco, Texas to any number of the bombings, etc. I chose the Columbine High School massacre (because it wasn't just a shooting.) and I am pretty set on becoming as much of an expert on this event as I can. April marked the 10 year anniversary and it's crazy to me--to attempt to fathom all the madness of that day/month/year following that decision. I am reading the book Columbine by Dave Cullen and it's the first major book giving the realest details of that day and the days surrounding it. I am going to watch the documentary that came out a few years back Bowling for Columbine that I've heard is crazy liberal and propaganda, but I'm trying to know all I can about it. I think my concentration for my paper might be the over and under spiritualization of the event. I don't know for sure yet, but as I read this book I'm really getting into it and realzing constantly that THIS WAS VERY, VERY, VERY REAL. Isn't is so easy for us to pass by things because it didn't happen TO us, just, in the same country and it's hard to wrap your mind around something that the media portrayed one way when in all reality, it was a bit different then it seemed. Anyways, this is fascinating me and consuming a good bit of my summer, because we are instructed to become "experts" on our topic. I think I've read through 20+ websites and such about it so far and now with the book....Anyways, I will most likely post my writings when I'm all finished, although I doubt many of you care--haha!
